Random Facts about Me:

1. I have 3 cats, they're my fur babies, and I'm sure I'm destined to be a cat lady in the future. 
2. I write down thoughts when I'm writing. 
3. I cannot sleep if my closet door is open. 
4. I love to write letters and I've had penpals since I was about 8 years old. 
5. I came home from my first day of Junior Kindergarten crying because I didn't learn how to read. I was already reading by the time I started school, but I wanted to learn more. 
6. I'm a caffeine addict, I can't go a day without having a cup of coffee. 
7. I fall asleep with the TV on because I can't stand the silence at night. Especially with a room in the basement. 
8. I play with my rings when I'm nervous. 
9. I have a B.A in English Literature and a B.Ed. 
10. The first book I remember reading on my own was Go Dog Go. 
11. I often get asked if my eyes are naturally blue or if I wear contacts. I do, but they're just clear and because I can't stand to wear my glasses.

Margaret Atwood. I have been told so many times to read something but her, but I still have yet to do so.

I like rock/alternative, pop rock & country 

4. Would you like to be an author?

I would absolutely love being an author and it was something that I have dreamed about from a very young age. I used to write stories all the time, and I still have a bunch that I wrote.

5. A strong female character in a TV show that you like?

Lorelai Gilmore, hands down. I'd love to be her, she witty, smart and just wonderful. 

6. Biggest physical book pet peeve?

When someone cracks the spine. I cringe to see a book with a cracked spine. 

7. Favorite place to buy books?

Chapters because I just love to walk around the bookstore and check to see what they have. Although I have been buying a lot from Amazon lately. 

8. What are two people that you ship that are not from the same book?

This is a really tough question, and I'm really struggling to come up with an answer. 

9. Skydiving or bungee jumping?

Bungee jumping

10. What is your opinion about libraries?

I think libraries are a wonderful idea, and I think that they make reading so much more accessible to just about everyone.

Sunshine & Whiskey

I'm supposed to be telling you what this book is about. 

I'm Megan Walker, a lawyer at one of the hottest boutique law firms in Atlanta. I'm on the fast track to making partner and have my entire life planned out...or I did. 

We all know how that goes, right? Best laid plans and all that. Life just threw me a couple curveballs, I've set out to take things into my own hands. By throwing caution to the wind and getting out of my A-type personality bubble, I'm learning more about myself than I have in my twenty-seven years. 

Sound's like a chick flick, doesn't it?

It's not.

I came across this book randomly and I fell in love with the cover. I have such a thing for covers. When I read the synopsis I thought that it sounded like something that I would definitely enjoy, and I"m looking forward to being able to add it to my shelves soon!

This week I'm reading:

Synopsis: One kiss could be the last

I'm loving this book so far and I've been on a real Jennifer L. Armentrout kick lately. When I'm finished with this one (I'm hoping to be this week) I'll be moving on to the second book.

Review: Obsidian

Synopsis: Starting over sucks. 
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring...until I spotted by hot neighbour, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth. 

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me. 

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking lose to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

Review: I'll start this of with complete honesty, I really did not think that I was going to enjoy a book about aliens. I had purchased this book a little while back and it was just sitting on my bookshelf. I had heard so many good things about this book which is why I had picked it up, and after reading it, turns out that aliens are definitely my thing. Especially when they're named Daemon.

There is absolutely something about Daemon's arrogance, and the fact that knows he's good looking, that just make him that much more attractive. There were times when I found myself really wanting to switch places with Katy. I would not have minded bickering with Daemon at all! Katy is actually a really likable main character. I really enjoyed being able to discover the world from her point-of-view, and it was very enjoyable and entertaining to see through Katy's eyes.

And Daemon...it is hard trying to find the right words to say to describe him. The moment that you meet him, you know that there is going to be that level of arrogance and sarcasm, but it is one of the reasons that I really enjoyed his character. It was really refreshing as well to witness his interactions with Katy and to see just exactly how  much her cares for her and how strongly he feels about her.

With this being said, all of the characters is this book were awesome, and they were really well developed. As a reader you become completely immersed in these characters lives and you never want to leave! I absolutely loved setting of this book, that at times, it really felt as though I was right there in the story right along side the characters. This story completely captivated me and I had this book finished in almost no time at all! There was just the right amount of drama, suspense and action. This book absolutely has it all!

If you are a bit hesitant about reading a book about aliens, don't be. This book was nothing that I was imaging it to be. It was so much better and so completely captivating. If you have not read this book, then you absolutely must check it out!

Today was an awesome book haul day. I had placed some orders online with Chapters and with Amazon. Neither order was supposed to come in until tomorrow at the earliest and I managed to get both orders today!

Stacking the Shelves [2]

Another small haul to report today. When I woke up this morning, I was expecting a package from the government containing the curriculum documents that I had ordered. When I went outside to grab the box, I noticed a smaller one on top of it. I had placed a second order on Amazon, but I was not expecting to see that today. Today has been a great week for books! 
Without any further babbling, I'll get onto the books that I received today.

I absolutely adored Wallbanger, and I went I noticed the sequel as well as these additional books in her Cocktails series, I knew that I wanted to read them. These are great, romantic and funny reads.

Review: Ten Tiny Breaths

Review: I had heard so many great things about this book, and when I finally picked it up and got around to reading it, I was not disappointed!  Kacey and her younger sister Livie have lost both of their parents in a tragic car accident. For Kacey, not only was she a victim of the accident, losing both of her parents, but she lost her boyfriend and best friend as well. Since this awful night Kacey is left to struggle with the emotions and thoughts of what has happened to her. When I first started to read the book, I really was not too much of a fan of Kacey's because it was so hard to like her character. She is a very determined and stubborn character and she knows exactly what it is that she wants. She definitely has a knack for keeping everyone at bay, including the readers. Given that everything Kacey has been through, this is definitely understandable.  With that being said, Kacey is a very strong young woman. After dealing with alcohol, drugs, and sex, Kacey is trying to turn her life around, and doing that absolute best she can to protect and provide for her younger sister.  Enter Trent. I absolutely adored his character. He is a such a sweetheart and he is extremely patient with Kacey given everything that she has been through. Along with Trent, K.A Tucker has included a whole cast of wonderful characters. Once you meet Storm and her daughter Mia, the novel really takes off. Storm is fantastic, and a great neighbour and friend to Kacey. She is persistent and even when Kacey is trying her best to push people away, Storm finds a way in.  This book deals with some really heavy issues and some very raw emotions. At the end, this is a heart-wrenchingly beautiful story. K.A Tucker has done amazing job writing characters who are real, funny, sexy, and understanding. There really is not a dull moment in this book and it picks up almost right from the beginning and it will keep you hooked and reading right until the last sentence.  This truly is a great New Adult read for fans of the genre. If you are looking for something to read, your next pick should be Ten Tiny Breaths.
